Evaluation of groundwater repositories in parts of Enugu, Eastern Nigeria via electrical resistivity technique

Abstract Resistivity survey was carried out in Enugu North, Southeastern Nigeria, order to evaluate the groundwater condition of area. The inadequacy surface water, proper knowledge aquifer and increasing population has affected extraction development Resistivity, thickness, depth, curve frequencies protection level were determined. result revealed a total 5–6 geoelectric layers with model curves exhibiting following types: KHK taking about 10%; AAKQ, KHAK, KHAA, HKQ, HKQQ HAA 12%, AAA, AKH, HAK KHKQ 24% while AKQ AAK take 20 34%, respectively. is within fourth fifth layer considering largest thickness up 84% aquifers study overburden resistivity ranged from 589.8 85,094.8 Ωm 8.9 99.5 m mean values 42,642.3 54.2 m, contour maps generated using Surfer software package version 15 which show variation parameters. area generally considered as having high protective low geophysically based index weak fair GPI rating implying that can be protected infiltrating contaminants. However, hydraulic conductivity porosity suggest potential infiltration polluted geofluids.
